bah stupid people

All this technology and yet they STILL can’t fix a broken/leaky pipe. If this were my house, a plumber would have been called by now and the problem would be sovled. Obviously the BP crude oil leak is a bit more than a leaky pipe but seriously? What the hell is going on? It shouldn’t take MONTHS to plug a hole in a pipe. BP is REALLY dropping the ball. I’m sick of hearing about it, so seriously FIX IT. >.> Who else could call that the whole “filling it with mud” thing wouldn’t work? I mean come on, it’s about the same as straightening a bent pipe by hitting it with a rock: it’s not going to work. Bah, this is way worse than the Exxon oil spill 20 years ago. Has anyone even started to try and contain the giant mass of oil floating off the coast (and now plaguing the coast itself) of Louisiana?

Anyway, something much cooler:

horse show

So today was awesome. I got like three hours of sleep and then went out to the barn and got everything ready. We peaced out and headed over to Greensboro for their “C” show which is a nice place to start a green horse or get a refresher course.

I have to say I couldn’t be more thrilled with pony, she was AMAZING. Every round was better than the last. The Warm-Up round we trotted into everything which was a good way to start but she was really bold and was like “lets GOOOO” without being rushy so we could have easily cantered it all. So then we went in for our first round and we cantered everything easy, we had a few chips and a random cross canter but she sorted herself out. The third round she really got the hang of everything, she got her leads off the jumps, got her strides between the jumps, and was such a pleasant ride. In the hack class she did well, she was very consistent in her strides, nice and relaxed and rhythmic. She still has a little bit of difficulty on her transitions but it was only the SECOND time we ever rode in that bit (like ever, rode her in it on Saturday and then we used it at the show). So yeah, she was AWESOME the entire day. I think she really enjoys being a show horse and getting cleaned up and going out and getting to go to different places. She just felt so good and so happy it was amazing. I still can’t stop smiling. I think she’s finally coming out of her little protective bubble and that horse we all know and love on the ground is now shining through under saddle (she had been quite difficult due to bad training). Oh and on a funny little side note, to keep a steady rhythm when riding her, and to keep me relaxed and focusing on something so that I could let her do her own thing I had Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance in my head every time we went around the ring. It served for a good distraction so that I didn’t accidentally micro-manage the pony and also good amusement so I didn’t get bored going around in circles or jumping outside diagonal outside diagonal (the order of jumps, outside line to diagonal line to outside line to diagonal line). I think i am just so excited because pony IMPROVED EVERY TIME SHE WENT INTO THE RING!!! That’s something that not every horse does.

All in all the show went well, my trainer did the jumpers on her mare and they did well as well. It was nice to get back into the show ring. I need to get my boots fixed though, they are too loose, I swear the need almost an inch taken out of them, plus I’m getting zippers put in ’cause that makes life so much easier. I’ll be happy.

Anyways, sleepy panda and such.

more birthdays!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CATHERINE AND MONTY!

So today we had a small barn party for Monty (my trainer’s Grand Prix horse) and Catherine (one of the students at the barn). It was fun, Monty got apples, carrots, beer, and carrot cake. It was hilarious. We then went inside and watched some of the World Cup from last year in Las Vegas and then some cross country from the Rolex. It was a good day. Lots to do though to get ready for the show tomorrow.

I am having sleeping trouble, as usual. So I’m going to be a sleepy panda in the morning.

A short film by Kurt Schneider. I felt it was appropriate as I have many friends who have just graduated and many who are going to be graduating in the next year.

“I made this film for my senior graduation and I had the honor of playing it in front of my entire graduating class. It’s twelve minutes, so it’s kind of long by youtube standards, but it’s something that I’m really proud of, and it would mean a lot if you guys checked it out.

I had the pleasure of working with a whole team of extremely talented people on this film, and there is no way this could have happened without them. By the way, Sam Tsui is singing on the song during the credits, so check it out!”

Lost Dog and Other Fairly Odd Tales

So today was just weird. I felt yucky last night, only managed about 3 hours of sleep but felt well enough to go to work. So I was exhausted but energetic? I don’t really know how I managed that, I guess I’m just talented.

I’m at work and had to work a horse that I usually don’t work, but she’s wonderful so it was a pleasant thing. Also, I was moving faster than usual. Like just finally picked up my pace. I had been all sluggish and kind of forgetting things a little, I think my migraine medication makes me a little less there than I am used to. So maybe I’m finally getting used to it (just as I’m starting to think I might need a different medication, figures).

And then I get a call from my sister who is freaking out because she lost Maala on the trail by our house, apparently she took off after a deer and then went the wrong way or something weird like that. So I hopped in my car and went FLYING over there and rode my sister’s bike 9 miles trying to find her. And then, only about an hour after I got there I had to rush back to feed the horses and teach a lesson. So I sped back and almost fell out of the car, my legs were all jell-oy.

Maala was eventually found, and I managed to get out of the barn at a reasonable hour. I’m so tired though.

bah…

So I WAS feeling better, I went to work, rode two horses, did all the feeding and stuff as usual, came home, ate, got comfortable. But now I am starting to feel yucky. I do, however, want to share what youtube suggested for me. It was out of the blue…

I have the urge to have a LOTR weekend, not the full extended version or anything but still a LOTR weekend (do note my weekends start sunday and go through monday). I couldn’t do it this weekend though because I am going to a horse show Sunday with the pony!!! I am so excited.

I think I just need to relax is all. So I am going to go to sleep now.

just blah…

So it’s day number 2 of feeling like crap. I didn’t make it into work until 4:30 just to do evening chores and lunge one horse. I always feel terrible about calling out sick because my trainer really does rely on me being there to help her. So despite feeling like I was going to die I made it in to work and functioned well enough. On my way home I stopped to check out the pony down the road that my trainer is considering purchasing. Her name is Peaches and she is freaking ADORABLE. She even stopped eating to check out what I was doing (which is always a good sign). So we’ll see how that pans out.

I came home and my mom had cooked a special batch of onion-less and bean-less chili (which is way better than last time when she forgot I couldn’t eat beans) just for me in a separate pot so that I had something to eat for dinner.

I did find something interesting on youtube today though. Julian Smith <3

This is proof that Dee and I are not the only ones without a life, they just have something cooler to show for it! XD

sick…

So I spent the entire day in bed with a migraine. It was yucky, I still feel kind of yucky. The worst part is I’m out of my meds and I didn’t even realize it. I lost a new bottle of Zofran (anti-nausea medication), which is horrible because all I could take was the last of my Phenergan. Phenergan tears up my stomach and makes me sleepy so I slept a lot today. I also took the last of my Maxalt (the med I take when I’m actually having a migraine) so I have to pick that up in the AM. I called my Neurologist and I am hoping that he’ll get back to me in the morning so that I can get more Zofran and Phenergan. Luckily I am good on Antivert (an anti-dizziness medication) so at least I’m not completely out of luck (I also called in a refill for my Maxalt). But I still felt yucky all day.

Keep your fingers crossed I feel better tomorrow (or at least get more meds)! Work is going to be hell if I don’t.

Much Love,
Kris-Kris

i did that thing i never do…

Today was good; I woke up at 1pm and spent the day with my wifey. We went to 4 different places to try and find apple red underwear for her Cosplay outfit. She then proceeded to try it on over her shorts in the middle of the underwear isle of Walmart (further proof we REALLY need a camera crew). We ate lunch at Sonic, which reminded me of all of my friends that work at Sonic up by school so I texted the ones whose numbers I had and I’m giving the rest a shout out of sorts, I miss you guys! And to all you other folks in the Whee I miss you too!!

Dee and I then came back to my house and proceeded to clean my room. Being busy tends to leave my room in shambles and it is often a two-man job to clean up. It’s also rather barren looking because I took down a lot of those childish things we all stuck up on our walls when we were ten and thought that Jonathan Taylor Thomas was “the one”.

Has anyone else noticed Google has been lagging a little? Is the super-powered search engine starting to crumble? Or is it that they have some of their servers down for maintenance at the wee hours of the night and I’m one of the weird few that are up at this hour? Oh well, all I have to say is that I don’t know what the world would do without Google.

A quick video for your enjoyment.

Sleepy time for the Kris-Kris panda.

running through the monsoon

So today when I went back to work to do the evening chores I took Maala (her new greyhound collar came in so she can’t slip it off over her head like she enjoys doing). I was pretty quick about it because the sky was getting dark and I was hearing thunder. Maala could have cared less though; she was really well behaved. So I was going about my job, almost done, when suddenly the skies opened up. There was loads of rain and thunder and lightening and I had just gotten to the point where it was time to turn out the horses in the barn. So needless to say, I got drenched. I stuck Maala in the office so she didn’t get wet and she fell asleep. It was hilarious, but I guess she is used to the rainy season in Africa. I then had to go get gas, soaking wet, which was cold and unpleasant and Maala started shivering so I put my fleece jacket on her to keep her warm (she immediately stopped shaking and perked up). It was adorable. I need pictures of her in clothes; it’s really funny and cute at the same time. She also gets really excited and will bounce around and manage to unroll the sleeves and then stumble around still excited and not caring that she’s stepping on the sleeves and tripping herself.

She really is adorable.

Much Love,
Kris-Kris
